How to add a product?

This tutorial will show you the quick start for adding a new product.  Your products may require additional informaiton.  View VirtueMart's website for more information if this tutorial does not meet your needs.

There are 5 tabs to complete when editing your store information:

1. Product Information
2. Product Status
3. Product Dimensions and Weight
4. Product Images
5. Related Products

1. From the Joomla Administrator menu, choose Components > VirtueMart

2. From the VirtueMart Menu, choose Products > List Products

3. Click the "New" icon in the upper right 

4. Click the "Product Information" tab under the VirtueMart menu

Complete the following fields:

    * SKU*
    * (Can be same as Name or an actual SKU number) Name* (Same as Store name, unless part of another company)
    * Categories* (To select more than 1 category, hold down the CRTL-key and click)
    * Products Price (Net) - Before Taxes
      OR
    * Product Price (Gross) - After Taxes (VirtueMart will automatically update based on the VAT Id )
    * VAT Id* (Your Tax rate - use this tutorial to setup the tax rate for your state )
    * Discount
      If already created select from the "Discount Type" field (Use this tutorial to setup discounts - Recommended Process)
      To create a new discount, enter amount in the "Discounted Price" field (Can't create a discount percentage using this method)
    * Short Description (use HTML to format, shows up in product list)
    * Product Description (shows up on product page) 

Complete the Attribute List field (if your product has options, enter them here - see image for example)  

Click the check box next to "downloadable product?" on the right if your product is downloadable.
NOTE: You must also setup downloadable products in the VirtueMart configuration
Complete the fields: " EITHER Fill in a Filename:" (if already uploaded) "OR Upload new File:" (if VirtueMart should upload the file) 

7. Click the "Product Images" tab under the VirtueMart menu.

Use the "Browse" button under "Full Image" to upload your image
Image Action:
Click the radial button next to "Auto-Create Thumbnail" to make VirtueMart create create a thumbnail image using the full image.
Click the radial button next to "None" to upload your own thumbnail image or to not have a thumbnail image.
Use the "Browse" button under "Thumb Nail" if you chose to upload your own thumbnail image.  

7. Click the "Related Products" tab under the VirtueMart menu

In the "Please Select" field hold down CTRL and Click to select products that relate to the product  

8. Click the "Save" icon in the upper right.
