Intern Wanted (Fruitland Park Area)
I am currently the only person running my business. If something happens to me then all my customers are left up in the air. I am looking for someone who wants to learn how to run a web business and possibly take over when I am not available.
If accepted, I would personally teach you how to log in and maintain a linux server. I use webmin for a backend control panel but you will also need to be able to log in to the shell prompt on the server.
I would show you how to access our godaddy account, name.com account, and dns exit account and how to manage DNS entries
All our sites are built in Joomla and Wordpress. I would teach you the fundamentals of doing a full install of both of these systems (I do that through shell, not the control panel).
I would show you how to use the backup system and billing system.
When people come to me for website design, I would expect you to be able to either help out building the sites or take on the sites and build them yourself. This part of the business would be paid as I know how time consuming website design can be.
Ideally, I would like someone who is just getting started with web development but also responsible enough to be trusted to not just take what I show you and run with it on your own leaving me with wasted time. I will ask you to sign a non-disclosure agreement but not a non-compete. There is enough business out there where if you want to take what I teach you and start your own company, I won't stop you. As long as I can still depend on you to assist me with mine when needed.
I don't expect that you would spend more than 2 or 3 hours on maintaining my server once you have learned the basics. Even if something happens (like I go on vacation for a week), a lot of the server stuff is automatic so it won't be a full time job.
