SUMMARY: The WEB Applications Developer is responsible for developing and supporting HTTP server and database systems to support the publishing and/or gathering of data in a TCP/IP network environment. The Web Application Developer interacts with customers, and content providers to understand their needs and develop the technical foundation for their online, interactive, WEB applications. The systems developed are in support of K-12 educational mission and requires an understanding of the needs of content providers such as teachers, school administrators and other K-12 staff. The ability to communicate the technical limitations and possibilities to WEB page designers, editors and content providers is required. The WEB Applications Developer has experience in database design and is proficient in the CGI strategies to link database systems and HTTP servers.
Network Support Specialist
SUMMARY: The Network Support Specialist I is responsible for assisting with on-site network support for K-12 schools using Windows 2003/2008 Server, Linux/Unix, Windows XP/7 and OS X Server/Client. The position also assists in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of file/print/application servers, proxy servers, firewalls, WEB servers and network electronics,.. Consulting on Setting Up Blogs (Ferndale)
I'm an experienced webmaster, but I've never set up a blog. I need someone who will sit with me and explain in detail exactly what I need to do to set up some WordPress blogs on my own domains. I'm looking for someone who will save me days of trial and error by telling me tips and techniques to get going fast.
The purpose of these blogs is mainly to promote other websites I manage. Most of the blog postings will come from me. If other people want to comment or post, I want to have approval.
I will not be putting any feeds on these blogs as a way to add content.
I'm not looking for someone to sit next to me and actually set up a blog, I just want someone to give me all the steps in detail that I'll need to do it on my own. I'll take lots of notes.
Possible topics to cover:
1. Hosting. Are there features on a host's control panel that I need to have in order to consider them a viable blog host. I use inexpensive hosting from several hosting companies that allows me to run multiple domains from each account.
2. Styles. These blogs will be small and simple, but I still want them to look decent, I don't know how to get different appearances.
3. Add-Ons and features. Are there certain add-ons or features I should include? These blogs are strictly for SEO purposes.
4. Files. Do all the files go into the same folder at the host site in the same way that simple HTML site files do? Are there any features I need to turn on at the host site?
I'm thinking that a 1 1/2 or 2 hour meeting at a coffee shop or at my Ferndale home office would be enough. I can pay with a company check at the end of the session. I do not need a tax ID or SSN to pay you.
